AACN Ambassador Update

Posted almost 9 years ago by Desiree Hodges

October 2016 Ambassador Update!

This month’s update features just a couple of the exciting new projects we’ve been working on here at AACN, as well as a reminder of our scholarship opportunities. I hope that you will find this information helpful as you continue to be champions for your patients and their families.

Thank you for all that you do.
Warm regards,
Melinda

Newly Redesigned AACN Website Will Enhance Online Experience

AACN will soon have a newly redesigned website. The site — which will premiere later this month — has been created with the needs of the AACN community in mind. It will have a cleaner design that is more intuitive, easier to navigate and optimized for viewing on phones, tablets and other mobile devices. It will also contain added features such as nurse stories, in addition to the clinical resources members of the AACN community have come to expect. Look for it late this month at www.aacn.org, and then let us know what you think of our new home.

Certification: New CMC and CSC Exams Launching in December
Important update: New cardiac medicine (CMC) and cardiac surgery (CSC) subspecialty certification exams will launch Dec. 1. The new CMC and CSC exams are based on revised test plans, which were updated as a result of national studies of practice conducted in 2015.
What does this mean for CMC and CSC certification candidates?
• CMC and CSC candidates planning to sit for their exam on or after Dec. 1 should reference the new test plans available online at www.aacn.org/cmccscnewdocs.
• Candidates testing now through Nov. 30 will take the exam based on the current test plan in the CMC and CSC exam handbooks.
If you encounter candidates for either subspecialty certification, please share this information with them and direct them to address any questions to certcorp@aacn.org.

AACN Scholarships Enhance Value of AACN Membership
Please remind AACN members that whether they seek learning through a national or local program, our scholarships support them in expanding their knowledge and skills. The Continuing Professional Development Scholarships page includes the many opportunities AACN scholarships have supported, from health policy, evidence-based practice and leadership development to personal growth and communications. Members should then read Important Information for Scholarship Applicants before starting their online application. Email scholarships@aacn.org with your questions.
